Zurück aus dem Elsass von meiner Einzelausstellung beim European Patchwork Meeting. Wenn die Zahlen stimmen, waren ca. 20.000 Leute da. Diese Bilder zeigen einen kleinen Eindruck von der Ausstellung, manche Bilder sind noch vor Beginn gemacht, denn danach konnte man kaum an die Quilts ran.
Back from Alsace, France, from the European Patchwork Meeting. If it is right, there were about 20.000 visitors. My pictures are showing some moments of my solo show.
Es ist gar nicht so einfach, in einer Kirche Artquilts auszustellen. Die Lichtverhältnisse in St. Louis waren aber sehr gut, da die Fenster nicht komplett farbig gestaltet waren, sondern viel Tageslicht durchließen. Die kirchliche Einrichtung und Symbolik hatte einen gewissen Einfluß auf die Themen meiner Quilts, unbeabsichtigt waren sie im Dialog mit dem Ort.
It is not easy to exhibit artquilts in a church. I feared a little bit the light, but in St. Louis at St. Marie aux Mines, there was a good light. The christian symbols and furniture had a certain influence on the subjects of my quilts, they were in dialogue with the place.
Urban Silence erschien so laut in einer stillen Kirche, dass ich ihn sehr weit von mir weg hängen mußte, um ihn nicht dauernd zu hören... Breaking the rules hat farblich eine Verwandschaft mit Urban Silence.
Urban silence, the title quilt of my book, was so loud in a quiet church, that I decided to hang it long away from me... "Breaking the rules" is familiar in the colour range and worked well with "Urban Silence".
Kurz vor der Ausstellung noch fertig geworden ist der Quilt "Wer weiß", weshalb er leider noch nicht im Katalog zu finden ist. Auch einer der Flohmarktserie.
The artquilt "Who knows" was the last I finished before starting to the solo show. This is the reason why you will it not find in my cataloge. Also from my new fleamarket series.

Das Fotografieren ist umstritten, ein Glück nicht nur bei uns Künstlerinnen und Künstlern, sondern auch bei den Besuchern. Ich denke, in den nächsten Jahren wird darüber zu diskutieren sein, ob man das
intensive Aufnehmen von hundert Details unserer Kunst zulässt oder nicht.
Photographing is a big discussion point, not only from artists, there were also a lot of people coming to me for discussing this. I think, we have to discuss the point if people are free to take intensivly more than some hundred of details, what some of the visitors made...
